FINAL PROJECT!!!

Hi guys!!!

We are about to finish this "weird, bizarre" academic year...so, my intention is to finish this term with a final project titled : AROUND THE WORLD  as the title of unit 8 in your student´s book. I know that you are overwhelmed with lots of tasks from all subjects, that is the reason why these last 15 days I only want you to do this project.

To design this project you should follow these guidelines:

1. First, choose or select a country you would like to visit and read information about it.
2. Elaborate a video or presentation, I don´t mind the format, to deal with the following aspects:

• Typical greetings in that country.
• How community life is.
• Religion and values of their society.
• Symbols they have.
• Folklore
• Stereotypes.
• Customs, beliefs, superstitions and rituals.
• Festivals, public holidays and celebrations
• Weddings, processions and other ceremonies
• Social trends.

This presentation should have written text as it is not going to be an oral presentation but if someone wants to record a video with images and orally explaining each photo, you can do it. Feel free to do it as you want dealing the vast majority of issues I have told you above. Minimum 10 slides, maximum 20.

Deadline would be: 18th June

RELATIVE PRONOUNS

Hi everybody!!!

Now, we start a new grammar unit with a new topic: RELATIVE PRONOUNS.

To understand all this stuff related to relative pronouns you have to take into consideration the explanation in your student´s book page 78, grammar appendix in your workbook page 110 and a video with an explanation about it. When you finish checking all this grammar resources, you have any doubts, please, let me know...I will be there to answer all your questions.

To train with this relative pronouns, please do exercises 1,3,4,5,6 on pages 78 and 79. Deadline 25th May.

A QUICK REVIEW!!!

LAST WEEK WORKING REPORTED SPEECH!!!

Hi everybody!!!

We are about to finish Reported Speech work. This week, we will work with commands and requests. I think they are the easiest ones.
As other weeks, first we will watch a video with their explanation and then, I will tell you what to do:

To put in practice what you have watched at the video, please do exercises from the photocopy I gave you from sentence 29 till sentence 40. Deadline: 8th May.

To review again and finish with the photocopy, please do also exercises about statements. From sentence 1 to sentence 12. Deadline 8th May

Hi everybody!!!

Almost all of you have understood how Reported Speech works at statements. Let´s move on now to work with yes-no questions and wh-questions in Reported Speech during this week.

You should refresh your mind and remember:

1. The introductory verb in a reported speech is always in PAST TENSE.
2. In terms of questions the verb more common used is in past, the verb: ASKED.
3. The sentence order changes in reported speech questions and it works as if the sentence were affirmative.

You can see this video above to understand how questions work when we are reproducing what other people say. (As there are some of you who didn´t understand clearly the explanation about statements, I looked for a video in Spanish with examples in English) Here it is.

Do you remember that I gave you a photocopy with some exercises to practise with Reported Speech?? I want you to do these exercises, only the ones related to yes-no questions and wh-questions. I don´t have the photocopy with me at home, could anyone take a picture of these exercises  and send it to our whatsapp group, just in case someone missed it as me. Thanks a lot. Deadline: 1st May.

Working only with grammar is so boring so let´s do a cultural activity.

I want you to listen to this video about the concept of survival and learn new vocabulary as well. When you finish listening, please send me a composition talking about what you understand by SURVIVAL and your experiences in your life about it. Deadline: 1st May

UNIT 6: DIRECT AND INDIRECT OR REPORTED SPEECH

Hi guys!!!

Congratulations for your work last week. All of you did it quite well. Now, this week, I invite you all to work with Direct and Indirect or Reported Speech. (indirect speech and reported speech is the same).

First of all, to understand how it works and when we use it, please go to your grammar appendix in your workbook on page 108 and read the explanation carefully.

To work with Reported Speech, we are going to deal with :

1. STATEMENTS (oraciones afirmativas)
2. YES-NO QUESTIONS ( oraciones interrogativas con las que respondes con sí o no)
3. WH-QUESTIONS ( oraciones interrogativas que llevan un pronombre interrogativo)
4. ORDERS, COMMANDS, INSTRUCTIONS ( oraciones imperativas, órdenes, mandatos, peticiones)

To make a reported speech sentence, the introductory verb always is used in PAST TENSE.

Please, pay attention to changes in VERBAL TENSES, PRONOUNS, ADVERBS.

To illustrate this explanation and your workbook explanation, here you are two videos for you to understand better:

In your book, you only work with Reported Speech in statements that is what is asked for your level. So this week, we are going to work with STATEMENTS. Please, do exercises 1, 2,3,4 on page 66 from your student´s book and exercises 5 and 8 on page 67. Deadline: 25 th April.

LET´S CONTINUE WORKING AT CORONAVIRUS QUARANTINE

How is it going?? How are you and your families? I hope everything goes well. I keep my fingers crossed.

As you know, your marks for this 3rd term are going to be evaluated thoroughout all the work we do  from 13th March till we don´t know yet, but probably May or June.

SOME TASKS TO FACE CORONAVIRUS PERIOD

Here we are!! You are not going to attend to class so, our work must be done at home. We are going to focus on two skills: SPEAKING AND READING

It is really important before making the exercises I am going to tell you, you make test preparation in your B2 book. It will help you to know better how to do listening and reading exercises.

Let´s start with SPEAKING. I want you to send me audios to my mobile or email of the following exercises: 

1. SPEAKING: part 1(interview), part 2 (voicemail 1, voicemail 2) p.10
2. SPEAKING: part 3(give a talk), part 4 (answer six questions about your talk) p.13
3. READING: part 1, exercises 1, 2, 3, 4 p. 23 and exercises 4, 5, 6 p.24; part 2, exercises from 1 to 6, p.26

Dealing with our Student Book unit 5:

1. Review all verbal tenses for the exam and do on p.56 exercises 1, 3, 4, 5
2. Do unit 5 exercises at your worbook except the grammar exercises related to conditionals.

SPEAKING TRAINING B2

Hi guys!!

This entry is basically for you all, to train your abilities in term of SPEAKING.

There are different ways to test your oral skills at B2 exam. We will start with the easiest ones.

One part of this speaking part is to answer several questions...so, I want you to record your answers and send to me in order to correct them. Try to do your best and if you have any doubts, let me know at our lessons.

OUR PLAN FOR THIS TERM!!!

Hi guys!!!

I hope you enjoyed Christmas time with your family and friends and now you are full of energy to face our new term.

To start with, we will learn and practice passive voice and we will review verbal tenses to train for our first term´s exam.

TEEN´S THERAPY!!!

Hi guys!!!

Yesterday, I gave you a piece of paper with different teen´s problems. I want you to work in pairs and in threes to give a solution to the given problem.

You have to take one of the roles: Being a psicologist or the teenager with the problem. To develop this oral presentation you have to bear in mind these guidelines:

1. Be natural when you talk. 
2. Be creative.
3. Be realistic. It is a real teen´s problem and you should understand what´s going on.

FIRST PROJECT: THE MOST CURIOUS AND UNUSUAL HOUSE TO LIVE

Hi everybody!!!

We are going to face our first project of the year...I keep my fingers crossed and I hope you enjoy it. It is titled: THE MOST CURIOUS AND UNUSUAL HOUSE TO LIVE.

To develop this project, follow these steps:

1. Make a research on the internet looking for pictures, videos and information about unsual houses to live in the world.
2. Take notes of the most relevant aspects of these houses such as: location, materials, how it is outdoors and indoors, decoration, amount of people that can live inside and so on...
3. Design a postcard presentation with the house you have selected. In that postcard you should print a picture of the house and its characteristics.
4. Elaborate a presentation for your classmates talking about all features of the chosen house. You can choose the format you want.
5. When you finish this project, you must write a blog entry talking about the place you have visited and explored to know this original house.
6. Deadline: 15th October.

UNAMUNIAN TV SHOW

Hi guys!!!!

We face our last project of this academic course. I hope you enjoy it and you can put into practice all the stuff we have learnt throughout this year.

We are going to plan a TV SHOW. Our UNAMUNIAN TV SHOW.

We are going to work in PAIRS. Both persons in the pairing have to think together and both of them have to present their section to the rest of people in the classroom.

Characterization and decoration are going to be taking into consideration for your final mark.

The Sections are going to be the following ones:

GOSSIPING SECTION: Lucas, Beatriz and Alejandra

ACTIVITIES SECTION: Paula, Lucía, Ignacio and Rodrigo

INTERVIEW SECTION:Carla, Desirée and Ricardo

SPORTS SECTION: Diego, Isabel, and Jonathan

We will talk about these section´s contents in the next class and we will even define some deadlines.

PROJECT UNITS 4,5 & 6: REAL SITUATIONS AT TEENS LIFE

Hi everybody!!!

Here we are with a new and quite interesting project for you all. Its title is: REAL SITUATIONS AT TEENS LIFE.

I think you know this matter probably better than me. Anyway, we are going to deal with it from different perspectives. Just follow some guidelines and I keep fingers crossed waiting for a brilliant final result.

As I told you before, we face this topic from different points of view so, first of all you are going to elaborate a survey using google forms, that is going to be distributed among all students at school. Each group is going to share out its survey in a students´level class at our High School.

In this survey, you must ask information from these aspects: relationships (family and friends), free time and interests, future life.

When you get your information, you will elaborate a summary presentation to our class and at the last slide of this presentation...you will say your wishes and conditions to reach a happy life as teenager in our current society.

To finish this project, you will make a research of teens life in other continents apart from Europe. We will decide this issue in our classroom.. You will use Genially tool. So, first of all we will watch a tutorial of how to use it and your final report about teens life in other places of the world will be designed throughout this digital tool and Reported Speech is required to be used.

INSPIRING PEOPLE IN MY LIFE: PROJECT UNIT 3

Hi guys!!!

We start a new unit titled: ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. It deals with goals and achievements in our life. Do you have any goals and challenges in your life?? I invite you to think about it and share it with your partners throughout this project.

This project is going to be individual and it is divided in several parts. Just follow some guidelines and you will know how to design it:

1.Elaborate a poster with a famous sentence or an idiom or phrase that helps you to live and achieve your goals in life.

2.We always have people that are references in our life in their way of living, because of their profession, their behaviour, their way of facing life....so you must think and find a person that inspires you.

3.Once you have chosen that person...you should elaborate a presentation of them to present in class. In that presentation you should consider these aspects:

• Who is it?
• Their profession.
• Their goals in life
• Why you admire them
• The main features or characteristic of this person that helps you in your daily life
• What you have learnt thanks to this person.

As usual, it is forbidden to write information on your slides...only titles are allowed.

17th December is your deadline for this project.

AN ADVICE COLUMN!!! OUR SECOND PROJECT

Let me introduce the second project of this term called : A TEENAGER ADVICE COLUMN.

To design this project, first of all we are going to work with the reading you have at your student´s book on page 26 and 27 as an example of an advice column. After, you are going to work in pairs following this steps:

1. Think about real problems at your age.
2. Select an issue that appeals you
3. Write an advice column with the matter to deal with and the answer
4. Record your advice column orally and send to me.
