CURIOUS PLACES!!!

Hi again guys!!!

We start a new unit titled: CURIOUS PLACES

I want you to make comments about what you understand when we talk about curious places or exactly how you define something CURIOUS OR CURIOUS PLACES.

Our first project is going to be related with this issue. But first of all I want to know your opinions and comments about it.

Take care and watch this video to illustrate what a curious place can be...

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL DEAR STUDENTS!!!

Hi everybody!!!

Here we are, together, to start a new year in our English lessons. I do not know your expectations for my subject but I realise that lots of students like you, are not able to talk in English for several reasons: they scare, they feel insecurity, they feel embarrassed or even a little bit ridiculous....This year, things are going to change...we will feel confident and impressed with ourselves. To achieve these goals just two rules to follow inside my classroom:

1-PARTICIPATE!!!
2-TALK AND TALK, YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES FOR SURE, however you are not going to be penalized for talking incorrectly SO, TRY TO DO YOUR BEST

I promise you all, that this academic course will be an adventure.

A PROJECT WITH OUR READING: "ALL ABOUT SOUTH AFRICA"

Hi guys!!!

I realize you have some problems in terms of reading a book on your own, that is the reason why we are going to face this reading in a different way.

You are going to be divided in pairs and each couple has to focus on a different aspect of South African culture.

To complete the project, follow these steps:

1) Read the pages in your book related to the topic you have chosen.
2) Make a research on the Internet about it in order to grasp more relevant information about your topic.
3) Try to make an original presentation in class that impressed your classmates. For this presentation, you can use music, videos, your own presentation.
4) To conclude your presentation you must give your teacher a leaflet with a brief summary of the aspects you have described and a glossary which contains the new words and expressions you have learnt during this work.

TOPICS TO BE DEVELOPED ARE:

  • MANDELA YEARS: María Cuesta and Juan Manuel Fuentes
  • PEOPLE AND CULTURES OF SOUTH AFRICA: Ignacio García and Natalia García
  • BELIEFS, MYTHS AND LEGENDS:Jorge García and Yadira García
  • NATURAL WONDERS AND TOURIST ATTRACTIONS: Nicolas lozano and Raúl Gorrionero
  • NATURAL RESOURCES: Teresa Marcos and Pablo Juan Montero.
  • FOOD AND ART: Jorge Montero and Denisa Diana.
  • SPORTS AND SOUTH AFRICA TODAY: Fernando Rubio, Ana Vaquero, David Vicente.

To design this project you will be given four sessions and we will agree in classroom about our deadline.

GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!

I HAVE A PROBLEM....!!!!

Dear students,

I feel really dissappointed because I was planning to spend with my 3rd year students a week in England, walking around, speaking English, living in native host families, doing amazing outdoors activites, and just two people in the classroom want to have this adventure; however, if I plan an exchange to New York, They are delighted and they do not realize that it is quite expensive for them and their families....what should I do?? Could you give any suggestions?? I will be more than happy to hear them.

Thanks in advance dear students!!!

  2. Make a postcard presentation of this person considering aspects such as:  EARLY LIFE, EDUCATION, ACHIEVEMENTS, DEATH. Deadline for this activity: 6th March
  3. Design a power-point presentation or video presentation with the most important details to introduce his or her biography to the classroom, Deadline for this presentation: 9th March. You will be given three sessions into our classroom to prepare it properly.
In this project I will evaluate not only your oral skills but also your writing.

A PERSONAL BLOG ENTRY!!!

Hi guys!!!

As we have already read in class, we have learnt how to write a blog entry ...so now, it is your turn!!!

Bear in mind:

In a personal blog, we often use informal language, such as contractions, everyday expressions and informal punctuation, such as brackets, dashes, elipses, exclamation marks and emoticons.

A possible structure for your blog entry could be:

Paragraph 1:
  • Place visited
  • Who went
Paragraph 2:

  • Places
  • Activities
Paragraph 3:

  • Opinion

Now guys is your turn...you have to write a personal blog entry about a day out including information about places you visited, the people you were with and your activities. You should also express personal opinions about the activities.

Deadline 20th October.
